First off let me begin with how much I love you. So many friends and family were concerned for you after your last letter. But for me personally, I just wanted to hug you. You need not to explain nor will I ask questions unless you feel you want to share. I just want you to know I understood and could relate and felt so much love and compassion for you.
I love these words from Elder Maxwell and have found comfort in them knowing that this tutorial/experience for you in your own personal gethsemene will be apart of the divine unfolding of what the Lord has in store for you.
“To be cheerful when others are in despair, to keep the faith when others falter, to be true even when we feel forsaken—all of these are deeply desired outcomes during the deliberate, divine tutorials which God gives to us—because He loves us. These learning experiences must not be misread as divine indifference. Instead, such tutorials are a part of the divine unfolding.” ― Neal A. Maxwell
My prayers this week have been specifically that you will feel the love of your Savior and to know that I am supporting you and praying, having faith and calling upon the powers of heaven, access the atonement is the best way I knew how to support you. I hope you take time to read their letters to you.
We had a fantastic evening last night at grandma and grandpa Schlappi. We got to hear from Kyla about her Mission. The spirit was strong and she bore testimony of keeping journals, reading her scriptures, prayer and preach my gospel. She said preach my gospel has been an effective tool in learning and studying and she considers it gospel. We also heard from Mike. He was shot 39 years ago on Nov 11 or Veterans Day and he pulled out his journal and he was able to share some detail and specifics to what occurred that day. Tami had surgery on her foot and so both he and make are quite a pair as they are both disabled. Mike commented how much joy he has experienced as they have switched role as he is the caregiver now. Anna brought a boyfriend and also Kyla brought a boyfriend. Who also shared he conversion to the gospel and he will be leaving on his mission at 22 next March to Mexico. We also shared one of your recordings-named Gringo vs Glory. The spirit bore witness and love was felt as we gathered together as family and strengthened gospel principles and relationships.
This past week I have been enriched with the spirit. I look so forward to my institute class on Tuesday with Gerald Lunds Daughter Cyndie Dobsen. We are talking about the spreading of the infant church in Joseph Smith era. Something I didn’t know was that porter rockwell was the youngest member of the Church and was baptised at 14 years old. I also learned that second coming is tied to Missionary work. In sections 28: talks about Missionary service and the immediately followed by Section 29 which focuses on the Second Call. So as your represent Christ and are specifically called to invite, gather and prepare the hearts and minds of God’s children so we his people will wait for further instruction and his coming and won’t be distressed and scared and afraid of the days a head(Isaiah).
I thought of you in D&C 31:3 Lift up your heart and rejoice, for the hour of your mission is come. That is you Ridge and then in D&C 31:6 Behold, verily I say unto you, go from them only for a little time, and declare my word, and I will prepare a place for them. But we are advised and counseled first to obtain my word and not be afraid of our weaknesses (Ether 12) Which i know for you the Spanish Language can be intimidating. Keep working and nourishing the language daily I promise you one day in the twinkling of an eye the Lord will bless your speech, and you will feel the power or spirit flow through every fiber of your being not just in speech but through your heart.
Since I referenced D&C 6: I ask you this week to ask these questions perhaps while you are pondering at night or prior to a prayer.
D&C 6:34-36, 8:3, 9:5,10-11 Elder Holland says, “In the process of revelation and making important decisions, fear plays a destructive, sometime paralyzing role.” How does fear get in the way of receiving revelation? What are we afraid of? What helps us to replace our fear with faith?
I know this is something I am working on and constantly asking myself. I believe in personal revelation and striving on accessing it daily and when I receive those impressions/revelations I am acting.
Anyway, I didn’t want to bore you with my words and don’t feel like you have to respond as I know your computer time is precious. We pray for you daily and you are embedded in my heart each day as I think of you often. Sending my Love.
